Congratulations Dr. Jaremko!

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Kara Jaremko on being recommended for tenure!

After receiving her PhD from the University of California-San Diego in 2016, Dr. Jaremko joined our team as a professor. Over the last seven years she has been an indispensable presence at Hofstra University. Training a new generation of chemists, nurses, PAs and future doctors, Dr. Jaremko has taught the following courses

- Organic Chemistry Lecture (CHEM 135/CHEM 131/CHEM132)
- Organic Chemistry Lab (CHEM 137)
- Special Topics in Chemical Biology (CHEM 192/BCHM 165)
- Medicinal Chemistry (CHEM 175)
- Undergraduate Research (CHEM 151/CHEM 152)

Dr. Jaremko has also provided countless hours of exemplary service to our department including performing the following duties

- Faculty Advisor to Biochemistry Majors
- Faculty Advisor to the Student Members of the American Chemical Society
- Search Committee Member for Chemistry Department Faculty Search Committees
- Chair of the Special Committee on Environmental Health and Safety
- Co-Chair of the Environmental Health and Safety Officer Search Committee
- Departmental Representative - Open Houses and Orientation Lunches

Anyone who works with or learns from Dr. Jaremko knows she is dedicated to the chemistry department. Her bright and cheerful energy envigorates faculty, staff and students alike. Every Monday and Wednesday, she can be found administering office hours to a line of eager students ready to absorb her wisdom and knowledge. On Wednesday, Oct 2nd, we surprised her with a homemade cake by Professor Katie O’Connor.
