Hofstra Donor Luncheon
On Wednesday, April 3rd, Olivia Golebiewski was invited to speak at Hofstra’s Donor Appreciation luncheon. Olivia is the recipient of the David and Esther Filderman and the Ann-Mari and Blair T. Wachter Memorial Endowed Scholarships. During her speech, the graduating senior and Vice President of the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) discussed how these scholarships allowed for her to step into her leadership of the student club role more fully. Notable among her many projects were the relationships she helped to nurture between Hofstra and the Nassau County Girl Scouts; relationships that were founded though multiple days of science for troops throughout the year and when she got to present an interactive activity for children at the ACS chemistry week at the New York Hall of Science.
Olivia was supported at the luncheon by her Hofstra senior contemporaries, Ella Pickell, Antonio Collado, and astrophysics major Ranya Olsen. Each student was there to be honored for their own impressive achievements. Ella was the recipient of the Irene Urwiler Bossert Endowed & Presidential Scholarships. Antonio Collado was the recipient of the Adam Ruhalter Endowed Memorial, Dr. and Mrs. A. Reidlinger Endowed Academic, & Presidential Scholarships. Ranya Olsen was the recipient of the Harold E Clareman End. Mem Award (Physics), Homer & Mary Dimetriou Endowed (Math), & Presidential Scholarships. The crew of scholars was proudly accompanied by Dr. Nan Wachter.
